1.
All of the wars we fight in vain All of the children we turn away All of the hate that spews from our lips How your heart must break, at the sight of this May your love enter us May we be more like our savior The radio tells of wars and of strife Stories of children robbed of their life voices of anger consume all we hear How your heart must break, at the sound of this May your love enter us May we be more like our savior
2.
Pontius 05:18
In water’s clean and pure I wash my hands of this His innocence, I’ll not respond to the lies your kings proclaim of him, who’s done no sort of sin, who’s done nothing but give his life for you Like movement of the waves, our lives just come and go Like wind, it blows, gone then returning What is the life of one poor man amongst the sands and dust Amongst the pile of rust whom shall I save? Oh my soul, what is it that I’ve done? Am I forever stained, am I undone? Is there peace, someone to comfort me? Perhaps it was He who stood here at my feet? What have I done? What have we done? A haunting spirit seems to ever follow me, recalling dreams that make me wonder If earth can shake and curtains tear at the sound of final breath, the sound of bitter death, What's saving me?

Carried from garden blinded Held in contempt Brought before your children Though innocent Mocking and cursing the Lamb of God Unaware of why he came Behold the God who saves He strips death of its victory Cast darkness in its grave Behold the God who saves The Lord in flesh now mocked and scorned and offered up for grace Behold, he saves Tried though clearly blameless Hands washed clean Crowds crying our for bloodshed Crucify the king Behold the lamb who takes away the sins of the world Lord have mercy upon us
4.
For three days in darkness slept The Son of God, a tomb his bed A heavy stone rolled in its place Pronouncing death the victor But what's that sounding in our ear The voices of the angels clear An empty tomb and folded cloth Announces victory o’er the cross Hallelujah Christ has Risen Hallelujah He’s overcome Hallelujah Death is defeated Christ the King is risen Church rejoice for Christ has won Death and sin -- their rule is done Light has cast the dark away Let us proclaim that Jesus reigns! Church don’t look up to the sky For Christ now dwells in you and I We are his eyes, his hands, his feet His body for the world to see

about

This Passiontide, as we journey with Christ to the cross and anticipate his glorious resurrection, it can be difficult to fully engage both the depth and tension of the Easter story. God humbles himself to suffer for us — not only to redeem, but to reclaim, to restore, and to make all things new. These songs are a reflection of my meditation on Christ’s death and resurrection this Lenten season.
